Luna Taguchi, President
Luna Taguchi is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Toronto. She studies the source of variation in infectious disease, focusing on coinfection – simultaneous infection of different pathogen strains. She uses mathematical models to understand how they can determine infection outcomes. She joined TSPN in 2022 because of her interest in science communication and evidence-based public health policy. With experience in teaching and mentoring young students of all ages, she strongly believes that scientific knowledge should be accessible to everyone.

Kristyna Gorospe,
Internal Affairs Director
Kristyna is a third-year PhD candidate in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. She studies drug-tolerant persister cells in lung cancer and aims to identify genetic vulnerabilities that can be leveraged to eliminate these tolerant residual tumour cells to improve long-term responses to cancer treatment.
Kristyna is the Internal Affairs Director where she aims to strengthen communication, coordination and support within the TSPN team. She is committed to building an inclusive, well-organized community that empowers trainees to shape science policy in Canada.

Ana Luiza Guimares, Executive-at-Large
Ana Luiza is a second year PhD student in Experimental Psychology at the University of Toronto. She is a member of the TEMPO Lab, under the direction of Dr. Laura Cirelli, and her research focuses on exploring how children respond to music and dance. She is specifically interested in understanding how children’s connections to different social partners (such as peers and siblings) affects the development of their coordination skills in music and in speech.
She joined the TSPN as Executive at Large because she believes in the importance of making scientific knowledge and research more accessible!

Nathan Tok, Executive-at-Large
